Overview

A 7-day expedition traversing Turkmenistan's Karakum Desert, combining ancient archaeological sites with natural wonders, nomadic traditions, and the famous Darvaza Gas Crater.

Itinerary

Expand all

Arrive in Ashgabat and explore the "white marble city", including the State Museum and Independence Park.

Travel 100km to a nomadic village to take part in traditional felting, yurt setup, and local cuisine.

Continue off-road exploration through the desert plateau to settlements, meeting shepherd families.

Visit the 4,000-year-old Margiana civilisation ruins and camp with the archaeological team.

Explore UNESCO-listed Merv, featuring the Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum and multiple fortress sites.

Return via domestic flight; visit the Kow-Ata underground lake and the Akhal-Teke horse farm.

Transfer to the airport for onward travel.
