This 7-day expedition explores Turkmenistan's eastern mountain region, featuring the Koytendag State Nature Reserve with its 438 fossilised dinosaur footprints on a limestone plateau.

Itinerary

Expand all

Arrival in Ashgabat with sightseeing of Independence Park, the Arch of Neutrality, and cultural monuments.

Flight to Kerki, visit the Kaynar Baba spring, then travel to Koyten village.

Explore the nature reserve including the Dinosaur Plateau, the Umbar Dere canyon with its waterfall, and the Kyrk Gyz canyon.

A train journey from Amyderya to Mary.

Visit ancient Merv ruins including the Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum and various fortresses, then a train to Ashgabat.

Tour Nisa Fortress, the Akhalteke Horse Farm, Gokdepe Mosque, the Kow-Ata underground lake, and Nokhur village.

Transfer to the airport for onward travel.
